  • The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation

    • “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9)

Sins committed before Baptism are forgiven by Baptism. Sins committed after Baptism are forgiven in the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, also called the Sacrament of Forgiveness, Confession, and Conversion. The effects of the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation include reconciliation with God and the Church, peace of conscience and spiritual consolation, the remission of eternal punishment due to mortal sin as well as some degree of temporal punishments, and a greater power to face spiritual challenges. (Excerpted from United States Catholic Catechism for Adults)

    • Process for the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation

      • Confessions are heard from 3:30-4:30 pm each Saturday in the St. Clare Chapel of the Rectory, on the First Friday of each month following the 7:30 pm Mass, and on Wednesday evenings during Lent in the church from 6:00-7:00 pm.

      • Special Penance services are held during Lent and Advent. Please check the Bulletin during these seasons for more information.

        • For children and youth, please see Reconciliation and Eucharist Preparation
