These ministries focus on educating our parishioners, our community and our lawmakers on those areas, consistent with Catholic social teaching, that must be addressed on behalf of the least and most vulnerable among us, and help us care for our God-given resources. 

Care of God’s Creation

• Volunteers work on parish and community projects that help preserve and care for our environment. Ministry goals include raising parishioner awareness of the moral obligation to care for the earth, and providing information to parishioners on ways to be good stewards.

Justice and Advocacy Council of Montgomery County

• The council focuses on issues at the county level, particularly with regard to the social safety net, transportation (such as mass transit and the Purple Line), and housing for the needy. Members advocate through public testimony and letters to the County Council and the County Executive.

Maryland Catholic Advocacy Network (CAN)

• CAN is an outreach activity of the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC). Members respond to issues affected by the church’s teachings and positions by contacting elected officials. Catholic Social Teaching urges us to be a voice for the least and most vulnerable among us. Members are invited to participate in Catholic Lobby Night in Annapolis. Pax Christi at St. Francis Parish
