As Catholics, we are called to follow Catholic Social Teaching, which ask us to live our lives in accordance with:
Life and dignity of the human person
Call to family, community and participation
Placing the needs of the poor and vulnerable first
Dignity of work and the rights of workers
Through the Catholic Advocacy Network, Maryland Catholics can contact their state legislators about bills important to them -- issues involving education, children and families; respect for life; and social and economic justice. During the Maryland General Assembly's 90-day legislative session from January to April, you will receive e-mails and/or text alerts with updates on key issues being considered by the legislative body. Each alert will ask you to contact your legislator or take some other action. Sign up for the Catholic Advocacy Network.
On Catholic Advocacy Day, the Maryland Catholic Conference highlights three priority issues for Catholics to advocate for on behalf of our Church, including education, life and human rights. Organizers create the action alerts -- you can voice your views by signing, clicking and sending the alerts to your legislators or calling them.
