These ministries address special challenges for groups or families in our community.
Prison Ministry
St. Francis of Assisi participates in Catholic Charities’ “Welcome Home” program, providing mentoring to returning citizens as they transition back into society. In addition, we live the gospel mandate to serve men and women currently incarcerated through advocacy, helping their families while they are away, and direct prison ministry within Maryland jails and prisons.
Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) gives parishioners the opportunity to help repair and restore a home owned by an elderly person and/or a person with a disability living in Montgomery County.
Coordinator needed.
Sophia House
Sophia House is a congregation and community-supported program of rehabilitative services for homeless women, under Community Ministry of Montgomery County. St. Francis parishioners prepare dinner and provide breakfast supplies on a monthly basis.
