  • The Sacrament of Baptism

    • “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into his death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:3-4)

The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Baptism gives a person entry into new life. It is necessary for salvation and for entry into the Church. The effects of Baptism are delivery from all sins (original and personal), reception of the grace of divine adoption, being made a member of Christ and a temple of the Holy Spirit, initiation into the Church, and being made a sharer in Christ’s mission as priest, prophet, and king.  (Excerpted from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults)

    • Process to Receive the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Francis

The Baptismal preparation program depends on the age of the candidate:

      • For an infant through a child of age 6, please contact the Parish Office for an appointment with the pastor. Baptisms are normally offered on the Second and Fourth Sundays of the month at 2:30 pm in the Church. Baptisms can also be scheduled at weekend Masses when the pastor is presiding as well as on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Options can be discussed when you meet with the pastor.
      • Children and teens (age 7 and older) prepare for Baptism, as well as Confirmation and Eucharist, in a process modeled on the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Please see  Grow in Faith for information about this program.
      • Adults prepare for Baptism, as well as Confirmation and Eucharist, as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).
    • Process to Obtain a Baptismal Sponsor/Godparent Form

Please contact the Parish Office to obtain a Sponsor/Godparent Form for Baptism or Confirmation.
